Ibis Hotel

- Great location, right next to the metro station and very near Tianjin Railway Station. It’s also located centrally near the Jiefang Bridge, Haihe River and Jinwan Square, and there are nice photo spots, eateries, and night market nearby - Clean and very spacious room, comfortable bed, it had everything that we needed (hairdryer, hangers, toiletries etc) - There was a gym, and you could do your laundry for free in the laundry room - Helpful and flexible front desk staff, they allowed us to check out late when we requested (the room was not urgently required for the next guest) - Good price for a very good stay - Our room had no window to see the outside view, only a window to an air well (do take note if you prefer a window to see the outside view), but we were not bothered by this - The only major con was glass bathroom door, which was inconvenient for friends traveling together

Good room, good location (next to the subway station, near Jinwan Square). However, the staff wasn't helpful or friendly. The hotel locked my room card without letting me know before the check-out time. I couldn't enter my room with the card although it was before 12 pm (check-out time). I had to try so many times, asked my friends for help and they even called the staff. But we had to go down to the receptionist, which was really tiring and time-consuming. Disappointingly, not a word of explaination did I get from the staff. Moreover, the way the man (staff) responded to my questions was really unacceptable, which made me angry. It seemed it was my responsibility to go down and get my room card opened while the check-out time hadn't arrived yet. The hotel could be a good choice if you want to stay somewhere convenient. But if you need help? Just serve yourself and ask your knees instead.
